Government at its session on Wednesday allocated 10 million UAH to eliminate the impact of fire on mine "Mezhyrichanska" of the SE "Lvivugol", the First Vice Prime Minister - Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine Andriy Klyuyev said at a briefing. "In the evening, December 21, fire started in a small local area - such fires happen almost on weekly basis at any mine. However, because of inaction and negligence of the management of the mine and the head of the coal association that fire has become a very serious accident. Actually they could burn the whole mine. I had to fly to Lviv and to hold an emergency meeting of governmental commission"- the First Vice Prime Minister said. According to him, the President instructed the law enforcement agencies to deal with the situation - now, the Prosecutor General deals with this issue. Andriy Klyuyev noted that the main question is why such a local fire could become almost a tragedy for the mine. The government commission has already recorded the fact of smoking in the mine, he said. "Apparently, as a result of this fire occurred. They were trying to cover up the situation somehow, but it was flared more and more. If earlier it was possible to locate such a fire within few days, and sometimes less, now the mine is out of operation at least for 3 months" - Andriy Klyuyev underlined. The First Vice Prime Minister said that currently several measures to extinguish the fire are implemented. In order not to burn the skip shaft, because that would mean an actual loss of mine, it was decided to fill it with a mixture of sand, clay, and water to form a tube, and to fully localize the fire, Andriy Klyuyev said.
