Yuriy Prodan outlined prospects for cooperation with countries of European Community

The Minister of Energy and Coal Energy Yuriy Prodan has outlined the prospects for cooperation with the European Community at a briefing in the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

In particular, he stressed that Ukraine will use the chairmanship in the Energy Community to increase energy security.

The Minister expressed hope for a positive resolution of the issue of reverse gas supplies fromSlovakia.

"According to gas traders, with whom we constantly negotiate, we can get up to 20 billion cubic meters of gas by using a reverse mode from the territory of Slovakia. This is a significant value for Ukrainein view of the decisions taken today in Russia on increasing of gas prices," the Minister said.

He also said that one of the objectives is the implementation of the integration process of our electricity system into the European energy system, "We plan to immediately begin an international project involving Ukraine and Moldova to jointly integrate into the European electricity network."

Yuriy Prodan informed on the situation to attract investment in the sector and of the cooperation with international financial institutions, including the funding of a comprehensive Program for modernization, improving the safety of nuclear power plants and other projects, including the construction of the Kaniv HPS and the increasing capacity of Kakhovka HPS.
