With participation of Ministry of Industrial Policy an issue of biofuel production on the basis of micro-algae tackled
The First Deputy Minister of Industrial Policy of Ukraine Vitalii Nemylostyvyi took part in a meeting dedicated to considering the issues of production of biofuel on the basis of micro-seaweeds, held under chairmanship of the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Yulia Tymoshenko.
For now, facing the energy downturn, real conditions for the development of alternative energy sources, in particular, production of biofuel have been created. The specialists are convinced technology of production of biofuel from micro-algae have a distinct advantage over production of biofuel from oil crops, rape. So, energy potential of seaweeds exceeds 50-100 times the potential of oil crops (while the potential of rape almost 90 times), growing of micro-algae doesn’t need fertile lands and has comparatively low material and energy intensity while the technological process is characterized with full automation and optimal control.
In the mentioned direction of production biofuel from micro-algae resolute steps have been made by Research and Production Corporation “Kyiv Institute of Automation”. In synergy with co-executives the stage of elaboration of technical tasks and propositions has been finished. Analysis of scientific solutions and engineer achievements demonstrated that broad production of micro-algae and their processing enables not only to receive biofuel, but biogas and bioethanol. It will give an opportunity to significantly raise energy independence and to completely cover national energy needs in the future at the account of national biological fuels. Apart from that, the Kyiv Institute of Automation stresses on the need to develop and start in the first half-year of 2009, on the stage of a draft project, national pilot research-industrial process, which will enable to shorten the terms of industrial introduction of the new energy program with use of seaweeds as well as raise its effectiveness.
