Ukraine shares the European choice of the way towards energy independence and invites investors

http://www.kmu.gov.ua/img/1x1.gifThe head of State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving Serhii Savchuk in his statement at the European Energy Security Forum, September 26, in Brussels, stressed that Ukraine shares the European choice of the way towards energy independence and invites investors.

“Today, the Agency is actively engaged in creating relevant conditions for gas replacement. It is a question of priority and needs to be solved urgently," said Serhii Savchuk, presenting the recent government’s initiatives in energy efficiency during the discussion panel “Solving Ukrainian energy dependence puzzle”.

However, the Head of the State Agency stressed the development of renewable energy is precious both in the context of strengthening energy security and with the view to the global trends of economic growth.

"Our challenge is to reach 11% renewable energy in total energy consumption by 2020. On the one hand this is quite an ambitious goal, on the other - a vital necessity to ensure future sustainable development of our country," - said the Chairman of the Agency.

According to Serhii Savchuk, the key to the dynamic development of renewable energy and use of alternative fuels in Ukraine should become legislative initiatives and financial mechanisms the Agency elaborates to encourage investments in these sectors.

"We are open for cooperation, ready for a constructive dialogue and the implementation of concrete initiatives. Both Ukrainian and foreign investors can always rely on our Agency as a reliable partner," said the chairman of the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving.
