Ukraine introduces synthetic gas production

In June 2007 the first synthetic gas production unit to be put into industrial effect, head Yevhen Sukhin of the National Agency for Efficient Energy Resources Use said, Cabinet press office reported.

According to him, the unit is designed for wood wastes usage and able to produce gas of the same quality as the natural one in case the 15% of the synthetic gas is added in. The unit's capacity is up to 6 thousand cubic meters of gas a day.

The State Committee of Ukraine for Standardization, Metrology and Certification approved technical conditions for the mixed gas production, according to which, in case the synthetic gas is added in the proportion of the 15% to 85% of the natural gas, the mixed gas does not meet the standards and parameters provided for the natural gas. "The mixed gas use will partially interchange the natural gas usage, and decreasing its consumption simultaneously", -Yevhen Sukhin noted.

He thinks that Ukraine is capable of using of up to 10-12 billion cubic meters of the synthetic gas as the natural gas. This gas can be used for industrial and consumer needs.
