Ukraine interested in UNIDO's experience on energy efficiency, development of energy saving and clean production
Ukraine highly appreciates the contribution of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in developing new approaches to the implementation of sustainable industrial development and is interested in the experience of the Organization on the implementation of standards for energy and environmental management, development of alternative energy sources, energy saving and environmentally friendly production. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine, Head of Ukrainian delegation Volodymyr Bandurov during the 14th session of the General Conference of UNIDO in Vienna.
Volodymyr Bandurov noted that UNIDO initiatives in the field of "green industry", resource saving and environmentally friendly production were supported by many governments, international organizations and business.
«We hope that the new initiatives of UNIDO will be effective and contribute to the strengthening of the position of the Organization as a leader in Industrial Development», - said Deputy Minister.
According to him the portfolio of UNIDO in Ukraine is expanding. The Deputy Minister thanked the Government of Switzerland and UNIDO for the recently initiated project to create a network of Centers for cleaner production, implementation of which will promote cleaner production and the competitiveness of economic sectors.
Volodymyr Bandurov said that Ukraine expects early launch of other new projects that UNIDO will implement, in cooperation with the Global Environment Facility. This is projects to improve energy efficiency in the agricultural sector, development of biofuel’s market in Ukraine, as well as energy management systems in industry.
«We are also interested in the development of technology foresight as part of strategic planning system», - he stressed.
