Ukraine and the United States are developing cooperation in the sphere of energy security
October 14, 2011, the third meeting of the Ukrainian-American Working Group on Energy Security headed by the Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Yuriy Boyko and the Special Envoy for Eurasian Energy of U.S. State Department, Richard L. Morningstar has taken place at the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine.
The parties have discussed issues of the investment climate, subsidies and tariffs in the energy sector of Ukraine, upgrading infrastructure, particularly gas-transportation system of Ukraine, as well as the structure of regulatory bodies. In addition, participants have discussed issues of reforming "Naftogaz Ukraine", relations with partners (Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU, including FTA), the condition and prospects of cooperation with U.S. companies in the energy sector, exchange of information on the status of execution of the Memorandum of understanding regarding gas resources from unconventional sources.
During the meeting, Yuriy Boyko has noted the successful development of Ukrainian-American cooperation in the energy sector.
