Prime Minister of Ukraine is against rasising of gas price for population

Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko is against raising of gas prices for the population though the National Energy Regulatory Commission of Ukraine is forced to carry out an order of President and a decision of NDSC on raising of gas prices for the population by 35% from December 1 of the current year. This was stated by head of the National Energy Regulatory Commission of Ukraine Valery Kalchenko at a press conference on Saturday in Kyiv. According to him, pursuant to this order the President summons from the NERC to review an order of price forming for the population towards its raising.

“Nowadays NERC as a law-abiding body has been forced to follow the decision of the National Defence and Security Council on raising of tariffs for gas for the population,” Valery Kalchenko said and added that “the orders of President are not to be considered, they are carried out, NDSC decisions are the law”. On answering the question whether the Government and Prime Minister had agreed with such raise of prices for gas for the population Valery Kalchenko told: “The Govt’s stance was to leave the prices as they are.”
