Mykola Azarov: In the current year Ukraine will have used by 40% Russian gas less than in 2010
Realization of measures of energy effectiveness and energy saving, improvement of domestic extraction will afford in the current year to shorten by 40% the purchase of Russian natural gas as compared to 2010. This was stated by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov during a sitting of the National roundtable “Let’s Unite Ukraine!”
“In the current year Ukraine will have used by 40% Russian gas less than in 2010. It is approximately 26 billion cubic meters against 37 billion cubic meters,” Mykola Azarov informed. At this, he added that the Government had performed huge work in increase of the domestic gas extraction. In particular, there have been concluded and initialed contracts on extraction of shale gas and gas on the Black Sea shelf, and due to advanced technologies the extraction of gas was resumed from the depleted sources.
