On March 30 of 2009 the Minister of Fuel and Energy of Ukraine Yurii Prodan held a meeting with Minister of Energy Serhii Shmatko in Moscow.
The event took place on invitation of the Russian party.
During the meeting the parties considered issues of long-term cooperation in a gas domain.
Besides, Yurii Prodan and Serhii Shmatko exchanged with views concerning the signed in Brussels on March 23 of 2009 joint Ukraine-EU declaration on modernization of gas transport system of Ukraine.
Yurii Prodan reiterated that despite holding modernization at the credit funds the material status of GTS will not change as the current Ukrainian legislation doesn’t ban any alienation or change of the state property right on the gas transport system.
The Minister underlined for now the matter concerns exceptionally technical modernization of the GTS and drawing credits to realize these goals.
“Nowadays we are saying these will be the credits in the form of respective contracts and the Russian companies, on their wish, will have chance to participate in the GTS modernization project on parity conditions with other companies, in all the tenders,” the Minister explained in his comments to a correspondent of the UNIAN agency.
Yurii Prodan also expressed hopes the information received by the Russian side will be handed over to the leaders of the Russian state.Source: Government portal
