Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Yuriy Prodan visited the EU institutions. The delegation was also represented by Chairman of the Board of NJSC "Naftogaz of Ukraine" Mr. AndriyKobolyev.

During the meeting with European Commissioner for Energy Gunther Oettinger, the parties exchanged views on the implementation of the agreements reached during the visit of Yuriy Prodan toBrussels on March 19-20.

There were discussed urgent issues of strengthening energy security in Europe, bilateral cooperation in the reforming of the Ukrainian energy sector, as well as ways to overcome resource dependence onRussia.

The sides paid special attention to the sustainability of the energy sector in Ukraine and perspectives of modernization and operation of the gas transportation system of Ukraine. In this regard, they stressed the importance of diversification of natural gas supplies to Ukraine from Europe and agreed further joint action to provide reverse of gas from Slovakia in the near future.
