In 2011, Ukraine will buy in Russia about 40 billion cubic meters of natural gas. The Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Yuriy Boiko said during the "Ukrainian Energy Forum - 2011" organized by Adam Smith (Adam Smith Conferences).
He said the cost of supplies is difficult to say because it is not the price of gas in the fourth quarter. "But we plan to take as much as possible now to import least at the end of the year when the price will be higher", the Minister said.
Yuriy Boyko said that February 28, he discussed the matter in Moscow with the Head of "Gazprom" Alexei Miller.
The Minister explained that in February 2011 Ukraine used 1 billion cubic meters of gas more than it was planned, due to increased energy consumption due to thermal conditions of cold winter.
In 2010, Ukraine bought in Russia 36.473 billion cubic meters of gas.
