Govt signs agreement on provision of EUR 50 mln to Energy Efficiency Fund with EC
Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities Economy Minister of Ukraine Hennadiy Zubko and Head of the Support Group for Ukraine in the European Commission Peter Wagner signed an agreement on co-financing of the energy efficiency support program in Ukraine on Wednesday.
"The European Union (EU) is entering into a five-year program to support energy efficiency in Ukraine and will participate in co-financing of the Energy Efficiency Fund. The partners' contribution is EUR 50 million. We have just signed the respective agreement between the government of Ukraine and a delegation of the European Commission," Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman wrote on his page in Facebook on Wednesday.
The press service of the Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities Economy Ministry reported with reference to Zubko, the EU assistance in the amount of EUR 50 million is not one-time-only.
"Next year, the EU can provide another EUR 50 million. Also, the German government is ready to sign an agreement with IFC (the International Finance Corporation, a member of the World Bank Group) to inject additional EUR 10 million into a multi-donor fund to finance the Fund's projects. The government of Germany also approved the implementation of the project of technical assistance to Ukraine in training professional energy auditors and training of employees of the Ukrainian Energy Efficiency Fund for the amount of EUR 4 million," the press service said.
The agreement on financing comes into force from the date of its signing.
