European Commission earmarks EUR 87 million to Ukraine for development of energy policy
European Commission decided to allocate EUR 87 million of the budgetary support for development of the energy policy within the frames of implementing the national Action Plan for Ukraine.
On May 30, Fuel and Energy Minister Yuriy Prodan met with Head of the Energy Security Group of the European Commission's Directorate General of Foreign Relations Fauzi Bensarsa.
The parties discussed a number of issues related to formation of the third report in the process of fulfillment of the Memorandum on mutual understanding between Ukraine and the European Union in the energy sphere.
Prodan and Bensarsa determined the main aspects noted in the present report and related to a progress in fulfillment of the memorandum.
During a meeting it was noted that the parties successfully move in the issue of holding an international conference of donors on modernization and reconstruction of the Ukrainian gas transport system to be held in November 2008.
Earlier, it was reported that the European Union may allocate USD 2.5 billion for reconstruction of the Ukrainian gas transport system.
