Commission to regulate and incentivise building energy efficiency
The European Commission is on track to launch infringement procedures against member states which have not properly implement EU law about energy efficiency in buildings.
Energy and Climate Action Commissioner Miguel Arias Cañete said member states wanted stricter enforcement of efficiency laws.
Maroš Šefčovič, the Vice-President in charge of Energy Union, said tougher action would be coupled with financial incentives to launch a European movement for efficiency in EU buildings.
They were speaking after a meeting of EU energy ministers in Brussels, chaired by Latvia’s Dana Reizniece-Ozola.
