Cairo welcoms Naftohaz Ukrainy bid to develop oil, gas deposits
Egypt’s Petroleum Ministry supports participation of the Naftohaz Ukrainy national joint-stock company in new tenders for development of oil and gas deposits in Egypt.
According to the press service, Ukraine’s ambassador to Egypt Yevhen Mikitenko and Naftohaz Ukrainy’s Deputy Board Chairman Vadym Chuprun met with Egypt’s First Deputy Petroleum Minister Ismail Karara on February 18 to discuss cooperation.
Karara positively assessed the work of Naftohaz Ukrainy’s specialists during implementation of a project involving the drilling of exploratory wells at the Alam al-Shawish oil and gas deposit in the western Egyptian desert.
Karara expressed support for participation of Naftohaz Ukrainy in new tenders for license to develop oil and gas deposits on the territory of Egypt.
They also discussed the possibility of establishment of bilateral cooperation on production of liquefied natural gas and prospects for operation of a trans-Arab gas pipeline.
Egypt has proposed that Ukraine consider the possibility of organizing a Year of Ukrainian Science and technology in the country.
