The Gov’t
will intensify cooperation with the World Bank in the project of reconstruction
and modernization of gas transport system of Ukraine. The Prime Minister of Ukraine
Yulia Tymoshenko announced in the course of her meeting with Vice President of
the World Bank for Europe and Central Asia Philippe Le Houerou. “We
absolutely stick to all the understandings we have, all the documents we have
signed in this direction and we will be actively working”.
Besides,
the Head of Government noted that one more cooperation line between Ukraine and the World Bank can become an ecological
issue, in particular cooperation in drawing funds for sales of units of carbon
dioxide emissions into atmosphere. “If we could launch this direction of work,
for Ukraine it would be valuable as energy saving and re-equipment of all
systems of housing and communal services is one of the most significant
strategies,” Yulia Tymoshenko emphasized.
In his
turn, the WB Vice President for Europe and Central Asia Philippe Le Houerou
noted that in the energy area the World Bank has been cooperating with Ukraine for over 10 years: “and we have
such high level of trust we need for that, so we will continue and broaden our
projects”.
According
to him, Ukraine can economize huge funds at the
account of energy saving and raising of tariffs as “the population has to see
the value of this resource”, he added.
